Relax and Renew Yoga

Unwind from your busy day with a gentle, slow paced yoga class.  Despite the slow pace, all major muscle groups will be challenged to encourage increased strength and flexability.  Students will be guided through a warm up, slowly building warmth and strength in the body, and on to a cool down with a guided meditation period.  Space, both physically and mentally, will be facilitated to allow students to deepen their personal practice.  Beginners are warmly welcomed and encouraged.  Leave your worries behind.  Feel refreshed and invigorated to conquer the remainder of your week.

Instructor’s Bio:  Helen Hennessy has been an experienced fitness professional for over twenty years.  She is passionate to help clients achieve their fitness and wellness goals.  Both professionally and personally, she is constantly researching the most effective and proven techniques to reach optimal health.  She resides right across the river in Trenton and enjoys reading, the great outdoors and her family.

Wake Up Wednesday Yoga

Wake up your body, mind and spirit with this beginner to intermediate yoga class. Each class will be different, catering to the students’ need and abilities.  Modification will be provided for limitations.  You will be guided through a warm up, an energizing flow of yoga poses accompanied by upbeat music, and a cool down including a guided meditation designed to uplift your spirit, focus your mind and invigorate the soul.

Join us for a garden experience where you will learn about herbal tea blends.   Using plants you can grow at home, we will discuss teas with wellness benefits including relaxation, mood elevation, digestion and immune support.  Explore the aromas and flavors of medicinal plants and learn about their histories and properties.  At the end of the workshop, you will take home your own handmade herbal blend.

Instructor’s Bio:  Lauren Lembo has been working with plants and fungi for over a decade.  She has completed certificate coursework in herbal Medicine and Aromatherapy through the University of Minnesota’s Earl E. Bakken Center for Spirituality & Healing Integrative Health and Medicine Specialty.  She is the owner of Blue Fox Botanicals www.bluefoxbotanicals.com a local grassroots herbal wellness company.  Lauren is a programs coordinator for the Hunterdon County Cultural & Heritage Commission and a Registered Professional Archeologist.  .  She received ar MA in Education from Central Michigan University, an MA in Anthropology from Monmouth University and a Certificate in Global Social Archeology from Kyusho University in Japan.

Your garden is overflowing with beautiful, ripe vegetabes and herbs…now what do you do with all of it?  In this class you will learn how to prepare easy, healthy meals using your garden’s harvest.  It is truly the meaning of farm to table – using nothing but the freshest herbs and produce directly from the garden.  You will even start this class in our Educational Garden.  Plan on taste testing some of Chef’s creations.  Join to learn some basic skills in the kitchen.

Instructor’s Bio:  Chef Jack Gulino has been involved in many different aspects of the restaurant industry for over 22 years.  He graduated from Johnson & Wales University and has worked at some of the busiest restaurants in New jersey  He is very passionate about coaching and teaching cooking techniques.

Essential Oils are quite popular now, but how do you use them safely and effectively?  How are they the same or different from the plants they originate from?  This program will give you an overview and comparison of herbs and oils.  You will have a chance to make your own spray and roller to target a health or home priority.  You will learn essential oil basics and the importance of sourcing properly when you are considering incorporating them in your life.  If you suffer from seasonal changes, have trouble sleeping or have stress in your life, we will discuss some natural options that can help you.

Heart Saver CPR Certification

This is an essential certification program for “non-healthcare” workers.  This course is a video based, instructor lead course that teaches adult, child and infant CPR and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) use.  Choking rescue techniques will also be taught.  Each participant will have their own manikin to use, as per CDC guidelines.  Upon successful completion of the course, the participant will receive a course completion card valid for two years issued by the American Heart Association.

Instructor’s Bio:  Kathy Merchant Kliwinski has been a local paramedic with Capital Health Systems for 40 years.  She has been conducting CPR and First Aid Training for 35 years.  She received her training at Sanford Borwn Institute.  She has a BS in Education from Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey).

Learn this life saving skill in a dynamic group class using the practice-while-watching technique.  Each participant will have their own manikin to use, as per CDC guidelines.  This class is perfect for community groups, parents, grandparents, caregivers, school personnel and students.  You will learn CPR for adults, children and infants.  Choking rescue techniques will also be taught.  Teens and adults are welcome to attend.  Please wear comfortable clothing.
