Join us for an evening of floral design.  As we welcome the spring season, each student will create a stunning floral arrangement full of all the wonderful spring feels.  Scent, color and texture all come in to play with this creative floral design, which will be yours to take home and show off to your family and friends.  The design will be created using a crafted twig armature to add interest to your floral and assist with construction.  This class is for designers of all skill levels.  Fee includes all flowers, container and materials needed to create your floral arrangement.

Instructor’s Bio:  Staff member, Deborah Pomroy, has been designing florals for over 35 years.  After owning her own floral shop for 17 years, Deborah moved on to freelance wedding floral design in the tri-state area.  She is an Adjunct Professor at Mercer County Community College where she teaches the Floral Design program classes.  She has a BS In Ornamental Horticulture (Floriculture emphasis) with a Business minor from Delaware Valley University.

Peace, Love and Floral Hair Wreaths

Channel your inner hippie with this fun filled hair floral class.  Learn the proper techniques for hand assembling a lush hair wreath.  Combining several textures of greens as well as fresh floral accents, this fun hair floral project will have you smiling and singing along to your favorite 60’s music.  Be sure to bring your camera for fun pictures wearing your creation at the end.  Tie dye clothing is optional but adds to the fun!  This class is for designers of all skill levels.  Teenagers are welcome to join in the fun!  Fee includes all flowers and materals needed to create your hair floral.

Bringing Holland Home

Enjoy this instructor’s fun approach to European floral design.  European designs have a natural composition that incorporates different plant and flower media to create a garden like floral arrangement.  Learning from his work experience early in his career in Holland, this instructor will demonstrate European design style and share ideas you will be sure to use in your own home.  Sit back, relax and be inspired by this creative lecture/demonstration program.  One lucky attendee will take home their choice of one floral design created by the instructor during the program.

Instructor’s Bio:  Carl Vivaldi is a local Botanist who resides in Washington Crossing.  He was the Horticultural Teacher at BCTHS for 30 years and has taught Botany and Plant Pathology on the college level.  He has served as a chairperson for the PHS Flower Show for over 30 years.

Flowers naturally have such grace and movement. Why fight it when creating your floral designs?  Organic style allows us to embrace the natural textures, shapes and flow of the flowers.  Designing in a beautiful compote container, you will create your own lush floral, perfect to accent any dining room table or buffet.  We will be using an awesome mix of materials that will leave you appreciating the uniqueness of each flower.  Designers of all skill levels welcome.  Fee includes all flowers, container and materials needed to create your floral arrangement.

Lushly Lavender

Purple is the color of Passion.  For over 2500 years, the Lavender plant has been known for it’s fragrance.  This lush floral arrangement will combine the scent of fresh Lavender with other purple passion inspired blooms to create a truly regal piece.   We will include a brief walk through our educational garden to harvest some fresh Lavender.  Join us on this summer night to smell the flowers.  Designers of all skill levels are welcome.  Fee includes all flowers, container and materials needed to create your floral arrangement.

We haven’t met a flower more stunning than a local grown Dahlia.  The shapes, colors and textures are just so amazing.  After a stroll through our educational garden to harvest some of our very own grown Dahlias, we will head to the educational room to create.  Working with the awesome rich colors that late summer and early fall bring us, you will combine Dahlias with coordinating accent florals to make your own country fresh floral design.  Designers of all skill levels are welcome.  Fee includes all flowers, container and materials needed to create your floral arrangement.

Embrace the rich tones of the fall season.  Using copper color enhanced dried accents, rich velvety burgundy florals and lush seasonal foliage, you will create this beautiful floral centerpiece to take home.  Feel free to linger after class by the firepit as we enjoy some spiced cider on this (hopefully) beautiful fall night.  Designers of all skill levels are welcome.

Foraged Design

Do you enjoy nature walks?  Do you notice shapely branches, textured leaves, oddly shaped pods/cones, interesting tree mushrooms and fuzzy moss?  Have you ever wondered how to use these materials in floral design or decorating?  Foraging is the art of sustainably harvesting local materials to use in your creations.  Learn how to make a unique bowl from fallen leaves and a beautiful dragonfly from maple tree samaras from this charming instructor.

Instructor’s Bio:  Melissa Palmer Reilly trained under the master floral designer, Gregor Lersch in Germany.  She studied Dutch Master Floral Design at the Borerma Institute in the Netherlands.  As a busy entrepreneur, she owns Florum Flowers and Petaling Posies, which are cut flower production and floral design operations on her farm in New Jersey.  She is a frequent floral instructor at Longwood Gardens.

Christmas in Colonial Williamsburg

Christmas décor in Colonial Williamsburg is all about using items from nature.  The style is known for its creative use of greens, seed pods, fruit, dried flowers, shells and horns.  Taking from his experience decorating in Williamsburg, Virginia, this instructor offers some great tips and ideas to use when decorating in the Colonial Williamsburg style.  Be sure to bring your camera to remember each of these great ideas, many using materials found right here in your Bucks County landscape.  Feel yourself get into the holiday spirit as these florals are created during this lecture/demonstration.

Instructor’s Bio:  Carl Vivaldi worked for three years decorating historic Colonial Williamsburg.  He is a local Botanist who resides in Washington Crossing.  He was the Horticultural Teacher at BCTHS for 30 years and is a proud graduate of Delaware Valley University.
